L\u2019orthographe du mot pose parfois probl\u00e8me. Le v\u00e9ritable terme \u00e0 employer est la m\u00e9thode Pilates ou le Pilates. Une majuscule&nbsp;? Un pluriel&nbsp;? Oui, et non. L\u2019origine du terme provient de l\u2019inventeur de cette discipline&nbsp;: un <strong>infirmier allemand nomm\u00e9 Joseph Pilates<\/strong>. Incarc\u00e9r\u00e9 durant la 1<sup>\u00e8re<\/sup> mondiale, c\u2019est dans sa cellule que Joseph Pilates, voulant pratiquer des exercices de gymnastique douce, que celui-ci a \u00e9labor\u00e9 la m\u00e9thode qui porte aujourd\u2019hui son nom.<\/p>\n<p>Le Pilates a ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 pens\u00e9 pour \u00ab&nbsp;<strong>d\u00e9velopper le corps de fa\u00e7on harmonieuse<\/strong>, restituer la vitalit\u00e9 physique, rectifier les mauvaises postures et stimuler l\u2019esprit&nbsp;\u00bb.
